The latest report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons shows an overall increase in the number of surgical and non-surgical (“non-invasive”) procedures. These statistics are enlightening in that they generally precede the trends observed here.
This data indicates continued growth in aesthetic procedures in the United States during 2017. According to official statistics, 17.5 million non-invasive surgical and aesthetic procedures were performed in the United States in 2017, an increase of 2% on 2016.
Statistics also reveal that Americans are increasingly turning to innovative ways to shape their bodies, with non-invasive aesthetic procedures increasing by almost 200% since 2000.

Boom in non-invasive body contouring procedures
More and more people are choosing to shape different parts of their bodies using ultrasound, radiofrequency, infrared light, vacuum massage and injectable drugs to reduce fat cells. Non-invasive procedures to eliminate fat and firm the skin are gaining in popularity. Cryolipolysis procedures (cold reduction of fat deposits) have increased by 7%. Non-surgical treatments for cellulite increased by 19% (up 55% since 2000).
