Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive body fat reduction technique that has become the most widely used in the world. It is an alternative to surgical procedures such as liposuction and is commonly used to improve the appearance of areas such as the thighs, hips, abdomen and arms. This article explores the basics of cryolipolysis, the benefits, potential risks and results you can expect.

What is cryolipolysis?

Cryolipolysis is the most popular non-surgical technique for fat reduction, also known as “Coolsculpting“. Cryolipolysis uses controlled cooling to freeze and eliminate unwanted fat cells without surgery. It is approved by American and European health authorities, is safe, effective and is the world’s #1 non-invasive fat reduction procedure.

Who are the ideal candidates for the procedure?

The procedure is specially designed for those with unwanted fat that resists diet and exercise. Good candidates have localized fat deposits in certain areas of the body, such as the abdomen, love handles, arms, thighs or chin.

How does it work?

Cryolipolysis involves freezing fat cells, which then die and are processed and eliminated naturally by the body. Fat cells are more sensitive to cold than other cell types. They will therefore be destroyed and eliminated by the body naturally. At first, you will feel intense cold and pressure, which will quickly dissipate. During the procedure, you may feel a slight numbness. The session generally lasts 70 minutes.

Is it safe and effective?

Cryolipolysis is generally considered safe when performed by a qualified professional. There may be temporary side effects such as redness, bruising, pain or numbness in the treated area, but these are generally temporary. However, as with all body fat reduction techniques, results may vary from person to person. It’s important to discuss your expectations and options with a healthcare professional before beginning any treatment.

Is there any downtime?

Cryolipolysis is a technique that does not involve downtime or social eviction. Typical side effects include temporary numbness, redness, bruising or slight tingling.

What results can we expect?

Cryolipolysis can result in a significant reduction of fat in the treated area, but it’s important to note that this is not a weight-loss treatment. Results may vary from person to person, but you should start to see results after about 2 to 4 weeks, and final results may take up to 3 months to become visible. Your body will continue to eliminate fat cells for four to six months after treatment. Once the treated fat cells have been eliminated, they can be considered gone for good. However, additional sessions may be required to achieve your goals (two to three per area maximum).
