Liposuction of the abdomen aims to radically and permanently eliminate excess fat localized in the abdomen.
The most common indications
Localized excess fat in the abdomen that does not disappear despite diet or exercise.
Before the operation
The pre-operative check-up is carried out as prescribed, and the meeting with the anaesthetist takes place no later than 48 hours before the operation.
DAY 30: It is strongly recommended to stop smoking.
DAY D – 10: No more aspirin-containing medication can be taken.
Some types of anesthesia require you to fast 6 hours before the procedure.
The intervention
Average duration: between 20 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes.
Incisions are short and discreet, as they are usually hidden in a natural crease.
Fat is aspirated using cannulas, and the volume removed is directly related to the quality of the underlying skin. At the end of the procedure, a shaping dressing is applied, covered with a contention sheath to avoid a wave effect.
After the operation
The post-operative period is sometimes painful, and swelling or bruising may occur. For a few weeks, a sensation of “sleeping skin” may occur. The compression girdle must be worn day and night for one month, and resumption of work depends on the type of professional activity, but can be envisaged as early as day 3 for light work. Sports activities can be resumed around week 4.
The result
It takes 6 months to judge the results, although a clear change can already be seen after 6 weeks.
